therapy for individuals
There are myriad reasons people seek out psychotherapy. Perhaps you are in a life transition and feeling lost. Perhaps you are struggling with depression or anxiety. Perhaps your relationships are riddled with conflict, or a lack of connectedness. Perhaps you are ready to process childhood trauma. Whatever your reasons are, therapy offers you the opportunity to explore your unconscious and change your life. Some modalities used are:
Psychodynamics
IFS/Parts work
EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing)
CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy)
DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy)
Hakomi
ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy)
Gestalt
Therapy for couples
Relationship distress is caused by myriad factors. When working with couples, we explore the underlying themes of this distress. I draw from attachment theory which, in the words of renowned psychotherapist Dr. Sue Johnson, “...offers a map to the dance of love and the powerful emotions that move partners in this dance. In moment-to-moment interactions, cognitive models of personal identity are also shaped. Each person is defined and defines themselves as lovable or unworthy and the other as trustworthy or dangerous. The map offered here allows the therapist to go within each partner and between the partners into the dance and its patterns.”
Some modalities used are:
Nonviolent communication
EFT
Attachment theory
Gottman method
therapy for families
A family unit is a complex, interlocking system in which each member follows certain patterns and roles. In family therapy we dive into this complexity with the understanding that by changing one small part of the system, the entire system changes. We work to uncover the types of boundaries a family upholds, the way the members strive to maintain equilibrium and more.
coaching
Coaching is fueled by the question, "What do you really, really want?"
While there are overlaps between coaching and therapy, coaching is less about processing the past and more future-driven. It is strengths-based. In coaching, I support clients in holding themselves accountable and clearing obstacles out of the way as they set and move toward goals that are aligned with their life's purpose.
